It’s time again for the 2009 Detroit International Auto Show and My Corporate Hell correspondents were there. This is an exciting time in the auto industry now that there is all that bailout money being used for R&D. Showing what they can do with a little investment from the American tax payer GM has joined with the designers at Apple to create a whole new way of thinking about automobiles. There is a new kid on the block! This new car is going to change the way people drive. With GM’s ability to build expensive cars no one wants and Apple’s ability to market products that no one needs it was a match made in heaven. The result is the brand new iCant•C.
“This collaboration between the two companies is just what we needed during these troubled times,” said Rick Wagner, the CEO of GM. “With a base price of $83,000.00 we’re betting the bank on this one.” Apple’s absentee CEO Steve Jobs commented that “all my creative plan required for our design team was that the car be Apple, and not have any involvement with Microsoft. I made it clear, no Windows and no Vista." “Without going into specifics, I think we have stayed within Steve’s request,” said Apple’s head designer, Robert M. Oron. “We worked closely with the GM creative team to make something that would appeal to a younger generation of drivers. Since many of Apple’s customers spend their time texting and talking on the phone while updating their iCalendars the savings on glass was a no brainer, which is what the auto industry has been famous for – ‘No Brainers’”.
